Candid or posed? I believe in a mix of both, but the magic of well timed candids is unbeatable. I believe the fleeting, organic, moments that define your wedding are the photos that bring you back to your wedding day.

Rather than going through a series of poses I focus on creating a space for you to be yourself so photos don’t feel so stiff. I’ll guide you to beautiful light and let your natural emotions pour through the photos. But don’t worry, we’ll get a few of the standards for mom & dad.

Hello Hello. A little about me… I love to celebrate, I love love, and I love taking photos. Naturally I became a wedding photographer.

It all started as a favor for a friend. “I’m double booked, can you take one of my cameras and get photos of the guys?” The guys being our friends playing a show with their band that night. I said, “sure, what’s the worst that can happen?”

Something clicked for me that night and I realized this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I left my job in medical marketing and started documenting love.

Hundreds of weddings later I know I made the right decision. There is nothing like the look on couple’s faces when I show them the back of the camera and I get to see their eyes light up.

Throughout my years in the wedding industry I’ve curated a timeless, emotional, and artfully cinematic style. I’m here to make sure every meaningful moment is preserved with heart and intention.

Wedding Day

What to Expect on the Day of

MorningIt all starts with getting ready. I arrive a little early to introduce myself to the wedding party and capture details around the venue. Doing this allows people forget there’s a camera in the room. From here I’ll bounce back and forth between the getting ready suites capturing candids and few posed shots.

The walk down the aisleQuiet, uninterrupted, and pure emotion. You won’t see much of me and that is on purpose. The ceremony is a special time for you and your favorite people to witness the start of forever. I’ll be in the back capturing every smile and fleeting glance.

Family photos, then time for the two of youAfter the ceremony, we handle family and group portraits efficiently and with clear direction. Everyone gets the photographs they want without turning it into a lengthy production. Then we step away with just the two of you for a few relaxed, meaningful minutes before the reception begins.

Years from nowThis is the part most people don't think about while planning. It's the random Tuesday years later when you open your gallery together. It's your children asking, "wait, is that you?" It's realizing the image that moves you most isn't the perfectly posed one. It's the one that makes you feel exactly what it felt like to be there.

FAQs

Answers before the call.

Where are you located and do you travel?

I am located in Winchester, VA and love to travel for weddings. Let me know where your wedding is and we'll figure out the logistics. Most of my weddings are located in the Shenandoah Valley but some of my dream locations include the Pacific Northwest, Italy, and Mexico.

How is your approach different?

I approach the day with a sense of calm and relaxation. I don't want your day to feel like a photo shoot that also happens to feature a wedding. It should be the other way around. I design the timeline around making sure you're spending as much time as possible with your loved ones and capturing moments over poses.

We're awkward around the camera, can you help guide us?

My approach uniquely solves any issues with feeling awkward in front of a camera. I am a pro at helping you forget there is even a camera in the room, making for the sweetest and most memorable candid captures.

How far in advance should we book?

The best time to book is about a year to 6 months in advance of the wedding.

What happens if we have bad weather?

The show must always go on. In my 10 years of shooting weddings I've seen everything from cloudless skies to hail pattering on clear umbrellas. As long as we have some light we can still create magic together.

Do you work with a team?

I have a wonderful team of second shooters and videographers I work with on a consistent basis. Let me know if you'd like a smaller or larger team covering your wedding.

How many weddings have you shot?

In my 10 years of shooting I've captured around 300 weddings.

Do you shoot film?

I do! Let me know if you want to add a vintage vibe to your gallery. Film brings a timeless, nostalgic quality that digital just can't replicate, and it's something I have years of hands-on experience with. If you love that classic, editorial look, film is worth talking about on your consultation call.
